A 23-year-old motorcycle rider who tested the limits of his bike — and the patience of the 小蓝视频 Highway Patrol — will now have to explain himself to a provincial court judge, police say.

RCMP said the rider is facing criminal charges after allegedly performing several dangerous stunts in Parksville’s downtown core on the evening of June 11. The area is lined with parks, restaurants and crosswalks, said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin of the highway patrol.

The rider is alleged to have driven at speeds over 130 km/h in a 50 km/h zone while performing a wheelie, where the motorcycle is driven with the front wheel off the ground.

The vehicle was then reported to have sped up to 193 km/h in a 60 km/h zone — more than three times the limit for downtown streets.

Police were able to stop and apprehend the driver, said McLaughlin.

The motorcycle was impounded and towed by police for a minimum of seven days. The rider was given a court date to face Criminal Code charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
