What goes well with a morning coffee and doughnut on a Sunday morning? Puppies, of course.
has teamed up with Vancouver non-profit group to find seven puppies their fur-ever home in Squamish.
This Sunday, the coffee and bakehouse will be hosting an adoption event on their patio from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“Basically, our goal is to try and get [all the puppies] adopted, which hopefully we're able to do. But I also just think it'll be a good kind of community event to bring people out and just to hear more about the organization,” Fox & Oak director of operations and pastry chef Tessa Roderick told The 小蓝视频.
Endless Pawsabilities spokesperson Brittany McBride said that the organization typically partners with local businesses, including restaurants, cafes, breweries, and wineries, to host community events that raise awareness and support the adoption process.
“These events often provide opportunities for pre-approved adopters to meet dogs in a relaxed, social setting, helping to create lasting connections and successful matches,” she said.
Looking to adopt on the day? Roderick said that future pup parents are encouraged to reach out to Endless Pawsibilities before the event to get pre-approved for adoption.
“If people are pre-approved for adoption, then they can take the puppy home on Sunday,” she said.
As for why they wanted to host a puppy adoption event, Roderick said it’s no secret the Fox & Oak crew love dogs.
“We have a strong, I would say, dog following,” she said with a laugh.
“We make dog doughnuts, and we have some dog toys now. We definitely have a lot of dogs that come to our shop, and so we wanted to kind of just expand that, because we are very dog-friendly."
Roderick said that the venue has been wanting to host more community events but has found it tricky to find the right fit.
“We have been trying to do more community events, but it is a harder thing for us to do, because most people just see us as a coffee and doughnut shop,” she said.
“[But the idea] kind of just came out of a brainstorm about what kind of events could we hold that would be positive and beneficial for our community, and a lot of us on our management team, and even just amongst our staff, are just huge dog lovers.”
And so the collaboration event was born.
“There are a lot of organizations and rescues that have so many dogs in their care, and so I think we're wanting to just bring some awareness to the [fact] that there's always a dog or a cat or something that needs to be adopted,” Roderick said.
Endless Pawsabilities is a dog-only rescue that takes in and rehomes at-risk dogs across Canada.
McBride said their mission centres on “preventing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter advocacy and promoting responsible pet ownership.
