A local resident is facing impaired driving charges after a roadside stop in late June.
According to Squamish RCMP, on June 26 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop as part of routine roadside screening.
The driver failed the test, registering a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) at or above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood within two hours of operating a vehicle.
Kyle Luca, 30, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle; operating a vehicle with a BAC over the legal limit; and two counts of breaching conditions from an existing release order, according to a police news release.
These charges have not been proven in court.
Luca is scheduled to appear in court on July 9 to face the charges.
Mounties ask that anyone spotted driving dangerously be reported immediately by calling 911.
In the release, Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the 小蓝视频 RCMP said that impaired driving remains one of the top factors in fatal crashes.
