Squamish made some Top 10 placements during the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

The biggest win was that of Alessandra Keller, who took the gold in the under-23 women鈥檚 cross country.

Her time was 1:22:53, leaving the next closest opponent in the dust by a margin of 1:22

Keller, who raced for the Swiss team, doesn鈥檛 live in Squamish anymore, but she is a former Howe Sound Secondary student.

Keller was at the school as an exchange student in 2015.

We鈥檒l claim her, anyway.

Local riders from Team Squamish also placed well among the many who raced against them.

Holden Jones took ninth place in the under-19 men鈥檚 cross country.

There were 108 racers starting in his category. Jones passed the finish line with a time at 1:16:30.

The winning time was 1:13:45.

Sean Fincham placed 14th in the under-23 men鈥檚 cross country.

There were 97 competitors who started this race.

He had a time of 1:24:3, which is three minutes and nine seconds over the first place time (1:21:22).

Miranda Miller took 18th place at the women鈥檚 elite downhill event.

There were 31 of the world鈥檚 best racing in that competition. Last year, Miller took first and became world champion.
